I was thinking about the two villanelles that we have read during Bullwinkle's corner and decided to write a villanelle about Gabriel from Fences.
My favorite character from Fences is Gabriel,
Although he is a grown man,
He acts like a child and thinks he is the Archangel.
Some of the characters in Fences who we get to know well,
Are likable enough for some short timespan,
But my favorite character from Fences is Gabriel,
We learn that his brain doesn't work so well,
Because he fought in WWII and was injured in Japan,
He acts like a child and thinks he is the Archangel.
He leaves Troy's house and goes to live with Miss Pearl,
Who probably treats him far better than Troy--that despicable man,
My favorite character from Fences is Gabriel.
He is the only character--as far as I can tell,
Who is truly free of life's real demands.
He simply acts like a child and thinks he is the Archangel.
We grow to love crazy Gabriel,
And laugh at his quirky plans,
My favorite character from Fences is Gabriel,
Who acts like a child and thinks he is the Archangel.

Very nice--thanks. And the title almost rhymes.
Your wheels are always turning; I like that.
Ally Resnik--
You have a very creative blog this week and its nice to see someone give respect to one of the secondary characters. I don't know if you can exactly consider Troy despicable, but he is definitely a flawed character.
I think Gabriel is a lot smarter than he lets on.
He is insightful and predicts Troy's downfall before anyone else.
Either that or he's a really good guesser.
Good Creativity!
On this day I must bid my aristocratic counterparts farewell. I shall not go into detail of what has driven me to such action, but it was the topic of Gary’s speech. I have authored a brief, might you say, rebuttal, which can be read here.
